Development and Dissemination of Nocturia Guidelines for Health Professionals and Consumers

The purpose of this study was to increase knowledge of nocturia within the community and assist health professionals to appropriately manage clients with nocturia.  A useful, easy to follow information/education instrument was developed to provide information to health professionals regarding the risks, assessment and management of nocturia.

The majority of GPs, residential care facility staff members, and CFA professional members who responded to the questionnaire experienced increased knowledge and gained new information on nocturia as well as increased confidence in addressing nocturia.  A survey undertaken five months later found that approximately one third of respondents had changed their nocturia related assessment and management practices.
