Informing the NCMS & Guiding the Development of Supporting Communication Materials
This project was undertaken to test whether the use of certain terminology is perceived as a barrier to raising incontinence awareness amongst both the general community and those with special needs. The relevance, impact and appropriateness of specific continence management materials developed for specific target groups were also assessed.
The outcomes of the project were an identification of guidelines for improved communication effectiveness and recommendations for the most appropriate terminology and key messages. Distribution mechanisms to optimise exposure to information were also identified.
The project identified the best terminology and key messages available, to inform people with incontinence on management and preventive measures. Methods to utilise appropriate distribution mechanisms to optimise exposure to information were also identified.
