A number of organisations can help your clients, their carers, family and friends with bladder and bowel control problems.

National Continence Helpline - 1800 33 00 66

The National Continence Helpline is staffed by a team of continence nurse advisors who can provide information, education and advice to Australians with or caring for someone with bladder or bowel control problems.

Carers Australia is a peak carer community organisation with member associations in each state and territory. These carer associations in each state and territory provide, through Australian Government funding, the following assistance to help carers maintain their caring role:

The National Carers Counselling Program provides counselling, emotional and psychological support services for carers in need of such support in order to reduce carer stress, improve carer coping skills and facilitate, wherever possible, the continuation of the caring role.

Commonwealth Carelink Centres - Freecall 1800 052 222* (*mobile calls are charged at applicable rates)

Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centres are information centres for older people, people with disabilities and those who provide them with care and services. Centres provide free and confidential information on community aged care, disability and other support services available locally, interstate or anywhere within Australia. National Public Toilet Map - www.toiletmap.gov.au

The Toilet Map shows the location of more than 14,000 public and private public toilet facilities across Australia. Details of toilet facilities can be found along major travel routes and for shorter journeys as well.

The Continence Foundation of Australia - www.continence.org.au

The Continence Foundation provides a wide range of information and support services for health professionals, service providers, people with bladder and bowel problems, their carers, family & friends.

There are a number of publications to help health professionals and service providers in managing incontinence.
