With over 3.8 million Australians having had some form of incontinence, chances are that you may see someone every day with bladder or bowel problems. Although discussing these problems can be embarrassing for your client, it is important to bring the topic up. Incontinence can be treated, effectively managed and often cured.

If there is a problem, even if it is only slight, people should be assessed before it becomes worse. There are many causes of incontinence and many solutions. If left untreated or unmanaged it will have significant consequences. It will not just go away.

For various reasons, it can be difficult to provide sufficient information during a consultation, or ensure a patient understands and remembers the information discussed. A range of brochures and other resources, in a number of languages, are freely available and can be provided to your clients.
